“Protecting children all across Australia.”

The Safefall high impact absorbing system is installed under playground equipment, has no danger from hidden broken glass and has no need for raking, clean up or replacement of loose fill material. Once it is down, it looks good and stays good.

What is the SAFEFALL system

Synthetic grass

Elasmetrics

REBO® Safefall is a foam which will not collapse with normal playground usage.

It is manufactured from the same groups of elastomerics used in running shoes and inners.

High Impact

The system incorporates a layer of REBO® Safefall high impact absorbing foam underneath synthetic grass.

The thickness of the REBO® Safefall is dictated by the drop height from the playground equipment.

NTA accredited

Ultralon’s™ REBO® system has been tested and approved by a NATA accredited laboratory. Constant activity in the playground involves repeated compression of protective surfaces which causes bottoming out and deterioration in the effectiveness of those surfaces.

Protecting Children from Head Injuries

Protecting children all across Australia. The Safefall high impact absorbing system is installed under playground equipment, has no danger from hidden broken glass and has no need for raking, clean up or replacement of loose fill material. Once it is down, it looks good and stays good.

60% of accidents in the playground, especially serious head injury, result from falls.

Surfaces beneath the equipment plays a major role in determining the severity of an injury. In such instances a cushioned fall is essential.

The REBO® Safefall System provides a playground surface that can dramatically reduce the severity of injury to children and in turn, eases some of the anxiety of the carers.

How Long Does it Last Outdoors?

The materials used in the system have been used outdoors for many years. The REBO® Safefall impact underlay comes from the same family as the flotation products used in life jackets, with a very low water absorption rate.

The system is hygienic and there is no risk of broken glass or animal waste being concealed in it as is the case with loose fill products.

There is no need for regular maintenance as applies to loose fill products, where compacting or wearing away at high impact areas such as swings and slides requires regular maintenance to restore the protective depth of material.

Critical Fall Heights

The Critical Fall Height is the maximum height from which a child falling on their head could be expected to avoid critical head injuries.

The REBO® Safefall impact absorbing pads are supplied in various thicknesses depending on the height of the equipment. The below chart shows the recommended thickness of the Safefall pads that are required.

Critical Fall Heights Graph
Code Thickness (mm) Sheet Area (mm) Pack QTY REBO Indicative Final IAS (m)
REBO020 20 2400 x 1200 10 0.55* 1.15
REBO030 30 2400 x 1200 10 0.90* 1.50
REBO040 40 2400 x 1200 10 1.25* 1.90
REBO050 50 2400 x 1200 8 1.60* 2.30

*Tested and certified by NATA accredited laboratory – AS/NZ 4422:1996. Total sheet area: 2.88m2. Indicative final fall heights of complete system with 19mm sand filled synthetic turf laid over REBO Safefall pads on concrete and river sand base.

This data is indicative only with tests conducted by a NATA accredited testing and inspection body to AS4422:2022. Higher critical fall heights can be achieved on final construction with the addition of sand filled synthetic grass and a compacted sub base.

Ultralon™ recommends testing of the final Impact Attenuating Surface by the contractor as per AS4685.0:2017.
