Closed Cell Foams

Ultralon® develops and manufactures high quality closed-cell, cross-linked polyethylene (PE) and ethylene-vinyl-acetate (EVA) foams, suitable for a broad range of applications, particularly where durability, strength, resistance to ‘packing out’ and excellent thermoforming ability is required.

Renowned for their consistently fine cell structure, even density and even colour dispersion through the sheet, our low weight PE and EVA foams also offer a high level of insulation, minimal water absorption and excellent toughness.

Our tightly controlled manufacturing processes, using only high quality, non-hazardous raw materials, plus a high level of technical expertise and the latest moulding technology and equipment, place us amongst the most well regarded PE and EVA foam manufacturers in the world. This approach enables us to offer customers quality, reliability and consistency of product.

Our foams are world-renowned for their use in orthotics and thermo-formed ski and snowboard boot liners. We offer a variety of foam colours and densities, and have proven experience in applying these to a number of markets, becoming a major supplier to niche markets in Europe, Asia, USA, Canada and Australia. The company also has the ability to export foams directly to the manufacturing facilities for many major international brands

Ultralon® foams are produced in moulded bun form and can be trimmed to size and thickness. They are easily processed, using standard foam-processing machinery. No chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) product or derivatives are used, and no fillers are added to foams. Brighter colours may experience  some colour deterioration over time, but standard foams generally have  good UV stability.

Special colour matches to customer requirements can be achieved (minimum order quantities apply).

Shoe Soles

EVA Foam

Ultralon® EVA is a cross-linked, expanded foam based on ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer resin. It is available in densities from 30 kg/m³ to 400 kg/m³ in 9 colours.

EVA foam is particularly durable and resilient, and is highly suited to applications where ‘packing out’ is to be avoided, such as shoe soles, ski boot liners.

PE Foam

Ultralon® PE is a cross-linked, expanded foam based on polyethylene polymer resin. It is available in densities from 30 kg/m³ to 180 kg/m³ in 6 colours. PE foam performs particularly well where thermal insulation is critical, such as underlay and headliners, or where cost-effectiveness is important, such as packaging.

Specialty Foams

Ultralon® offers both PE and EVA and blended specialty foams. These foams have been developed and manufactured to meet the requirements of specific applications or conditions.

  • ULTRASTOP – for use in high impact applications
  • FLEXALON – where comfort and elasticity is required
  • PERFORMANCE FOAM – when you need just a bit more
  • BOUYANCY – as the name suggests for flotation requirements

Open Cell Foams

Open cell foam furniture

Open cell foam, or polyurethane foam, has small cells that are not completely sealed and allow air to fill the space or take on water if soaked. This means the foam can be easily compressed and then naturally recover back to its original shape.
